A new course on Understanding Chinese Values Through Modern History of China commences on 12 May 2022. Zoom classes are held weekly on Thursdays from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
This is a short 7-week course, with the intention of giving you some understanding of the trait of Chineseness as a whole. Topic by topic, you are invited to walk into the past of China, from Qing dynasty 清朝 to China today.
If you are interested to learn about the conflict between mainland China and Taiwan, the return of Hong Kong and Macau to China, the origin of the beer of Qingdao 青岛啤酒 (German-brewed beer), the Shanghai Concessions 上海租借 and the rise of China today, the course is for you.
It is delivered in English and conducted online. Tutor Lily Lam is a multiple-degree holder with U3A-experience.
